037: ‘Be the Rope’ and Transform Your Leadership

Welcome to Episode 37 of the Teachonomy Talks podcast. In this episode I talk about what it means to ‘Be the Rope’ as a leader, and how this concept can transform your leadership mentality.

BE THE ROPE.

When you are able to ‘Be the Rope’ for others, you will become the person they seek out most in their time of need, and you will become someone they look to follow.  They will trust YOU enough to hold their rope when they need it most.

BE THE ROPE that is Trustworthy

BE THE ROPE that Serves

BE THE ROPE that is Unyielding

Two Minute Timeout for Teachers… Teachers are Champions!

Be inspired by the words of Billie Jean King

Billie Jean King is regarded by many to be one of the best female tennis players of all time, and a true champion.  She once said, “Champions keep playing until they get it right.  In this Two Minute Timeout for Teachers, I want to encourage you be the champion your students need and keep up the amazing work YOU do each day!

The Final Countdown: A Different ‘End of the Year’ Mentality

People find solace in countdowns.  They are a clear marker to when something is coming to an end, and they offer hope and closure to so many around the world.

Teachers often find themselves counting down throughout the year.  Whether it is the amount of days that remain until summer break or simply the number of papers they have left to grade, teachers seem to love countdowns. The challenge is being able view them as an opportunity to grow rather than just a means to an end.

036: Technology is a Teacher’s Silverware

Welcome to Episode 36 of the Teachonomy Talks podcast. In this episode I talk about how technology is a teacher’s silverware, how it must be viewed as a tool to enhance learning, and how a good teacher leading the way is the most important factor in it all.

Technology is a teacher’s silverware. Our objectives, our lessons and our pedagogy, make up the meal that the feast we prepare for our students is based upon. It is the ‘silverware’ that serves as a tool to help us to enhance the experience overall.

Technology will…

  1. Enhance learning by differentiating to the needs of your students.
  2. Encourage individual learning and growth in a way that would be impossible otherwise
  3. Reach the diversity of learning styles that our students possess, and help  you meet them where they are.
  4. It can demonstrate and encourage innovation and help students push limits that they think are impossible to overcome.
  5. It can give immediate feedback on growth, and provide confidence to those who need it most.

But just like silverware, it is useless without YOU.

Teaching is a Love Story

Great love stories have enticed people for generations.  They have provided laughter and excitement, as well as heartbreak and tears.

It is due to this range of emotions that we become addicted to these stories. Whether we are reading a novel or watching a movie, if it is a love story, we are on the edge of our seats.  As teachers, your dedication, perseverance, and drive is something that only love can bring out.
